Do You Know How Many Types of Tea There Are?

Tea is one of the most popular drinks in the world. It's been around for thousands of years, many people all over the world love drinking tea. There are so many varieties of tea that we could have a whole site devoted just to them! So let's get into it: what are some types of tea?

Green Tea
Green tea is made from the leaves of Camellia sinensis, where it undergoes less processing than black or white tea. It has the highest concentration of antioxidants and other health-boosting ingredients. Green is also the least processed form of tea, which means you get to enjoy a little bit more of that fresh grassy flavor!

Dark Tea
Dark tea is made from leaves that have undergone less oxidation than other types of tea. Dark tea is also known as red tea, and it's less popular than other types of tea. It's grown in the same way as black or oolong teas, but the fermentation process is shorter, usually resulting in a darker brew. Dark teas are often used to make black and oolong teas because they're inexpensive to produce, so they're great if you're on a budget!

Black Tea
Black tea is the type of tea most people are familiar with. It’s made from the leaves of a shrub that is native to eastern and southern Asia and Africa. Black tea typically has more caffeine than other types of tea, but not as much as coffee or some energy drinks.

Black teas are generally stronger-tasting than green, white and oolong teas—another reason why they're so popular!

The leaves used for black tea undergo less processing than those used for other types of teas; however, they still go through two stages: withering (the natural process where moisture is drawn out from the leaves) and oxidation (when enzymes in air interact with polyphenol compounds found in the leaf).

Oolong Tea
Oolong tea is also known as "Wulong" in China, and it's becoming more popular in Europe and the United States. This type of tea is made from the leaves of Camellia sinensis and oxidized between 10% to 80%.

It has a light and floral taste because it's semi-oxidized; about half of its polyphenols have been oxidized, so this type of tea is low in caffeine.

Yellow Tea
Yellow tea is a rare tea that is made from leaves that are picked and processed like green tea, but then are dried in the sun to turn them yellow. It's a very expensive tea, so hard to find and more expensive than other teas.

White Tea
White tea is a type of tea that is made from the buds and young leaves of the tea plant. White teas are very delicate in taste, with subtle flavors that range from fresh cut grass to honey to freshly baked bread. The processing of white teas differs from black, green and oolong teas in that they are only briefly oxidized (or fermented) before being dried; this process preserves their natural flavor better than other types of tea.

White tea is popular in China, Japan and other countries where it is produced. It can be consumed both hot or cold, depending on your preferences. To prepare it hot: place one teaspoonful into a cup or mug; add five ounces boiling water; let steep for 3-5 minutes before drinking
